The Story

Akko AstroAim Magnetic Switch

Akko AstroAim Magnetic Switch

A New Dimension of Control

What separates the AstroAim from a standard mechanical switch lies inside. There, a non-contact Hall Effect sensor is paired with a downward-facing N-Pole magnet to deliver a frictionless linear experience unlike any other. With no metal leaves to create friction or wear out, the switch registers movement with a precision of up to 0.005mm. This allows for a level of customization that mechanical switches simply cannot match.

The sound and feel have been tuned for long sessions. The POM stem, known for its self-lubricating properties, ensures every press is consistently smooth right out of the box. A polycarbonate top housing allows for brilliant RGB diffusion, while the PA66 nylon bottom housing provides a solid foundation, contributing to a deeper, more satisfying sound profile than first-generation magnetic switches.

The Competitive Advantage

The true potential of the AstroAim is unlocked through software. These features aren't just quality-of-life improvements; they are purpose-built tools that can change the way you play.

Rapid Trigger Rapid Trigger

Eliminate input delay. The switch resets the instant you lift your finger and re-activates the moment you press down again, giving you an undeniable edge in counter-strafing and movement.

Dynamic Keystrokes Dynamic Keystrokes

Assign up to four different actions to a single key. Set a light press to walk, a half press to jog, and a full press to sprint—all on the same key.

Adjustable Actuation Adjustable Actuation

Set your actuation point anywhere from 0.1mm to 3.4mm. Go for a hair-trigger response in-game, then switch to a deeper actuation for typing to prevent errors.

Unrivaled Durability Unrivaled Durability

The frictionless, non-contact design means these switches are rated for approximately 100 million keystrokes, ensuring your performance remains consistent for years.

Questions & Answers

What is a Hall Effect (HE) magnetic switch?

Unlike traditional switches that use metal contacts to register a keystroke, a Hall Effect switch uses a magnet on the stem and a sensor on the keyboard's PCB. The sensor detects the changing magnetic field as you press the key, allowing it to know the exact position of the key at all times, not just if it's "on" or "off."

What is Rapid Trigger and why is it important for gaming?

Rapid Trigger (RT) is a feature unique to HE keyboards. It allows the switch to reset and re-activate based on tiny movements rather than a fixed reset point. In games like Valorant or CS2, this means you can change direction or stop moving instantly, making your character feel far more responsive.

Will these switches work in my current mechanical keyboard?

No. Akko AstroAim switches are only compatible with keyboards that have Hall Effect sensors on the PCB. They will not work in a standard hot-swap or soldered mechanical keyboard.

How do I know if these are compatible with my HE keyboard?

The AstroAim switches use a downward-facing N-Pole magnet. They are compatible with boards like the Akko MOD007 V3 HE, MonsGeek M1 V5 TMR, and other third-party HE boards that support this magnet orientation (such as Wooting, SteelSeries, and others). They are not compatible with early Akko HE boards that require an S-Pole magnet. Always check your keyboard's specifications before purchasing.
